Decisions Lab recently collaborated with The University of Hong Kong’s Venture and Entrepreneurship Management class, where CEO Louis Cheung delivered a guest lecture on AI-driven simulation techniques. Invited by course instructor Justin Leung, Louis showcased how real‑time feedback and parallel simulations can empower educators and organizations to iterate and refine their initiatives based on data‑driven insights.
Live Lecture Feedback and Simulation Performance
During the session, students provided live ratings on lecture quality and relevance. Simultaneously, Decisions Lab’s AI simulation generated parallel predictions. The following high‑level results were observed:
- Overall Lecture Rating – Actual: 4.78/5 – Predicted: 4.89/5 (97.8% accuracy)
- Relevance to Students – Actual: 4.26/5 – Predicted: 4.88/5 (92.5% accuracy)
An average simulation accuracy of 92.5% was achieved across these metrics.
Insights and Implications for Educational Programs
The close alignment between predicted and actual overall ratings underscores the value of integrating demographic and psychographic data in AI simulations. However, the comparatively lower relevance rating highlighted a limitation: with only minimal motivational data collected from students, forecasting nuanced perceptions proves more challenging. This distinction illustrates two key points:
-
Data Depth Matters
Robust background information enriches simulation inputs, improving predictive precision for broader metrics such as overall satisfaction.
-
Targeted Data Collection
Capturing deeper qualitative insights—such as personal stories and learning motivations—can enhance the model’s ability to predict context‑specific outcomes like perceived relevance.
Advancing Data‑Driven Decision Making in Education
This collaboration demonstrates how AI simulations enable continuous testing and iteration of educational content. By predicting student responses in real time, institutions can refine lectures, workshops, and programs before full-scale rollout—saving resources and maximizing impact.
Decisions Lab extends its gratitude to Justin Leung for his support and mentorship, and to the HKU students for their engagement and thoughtful questions. The organization looks forward to further partnerships that harness AI simulation to foster innovation in education and beyond.
